Stormont comes to St Mary's

9th Nov 2015
Stormont comes to St Mary's

The children from Primary 6/7 were treated to a very special treat on November 9th when James, an enthusiastic, energetic education officer from the NI Assembly visited the school.

He explained to all the children how Local Government worked, the roles and responsibilities for the Ministers and MLAs, and how proportional representation worked. The children debated and 4 "politicians" canvassed the group for votes.

Mr Cathal Boylan, MLA, visited and spoke to of the children about the type of jobs he does.

The whole experience was brilliant.
