Primary 4’s school trip.

12th Apr 2024

Primary 4 have been learning about WW2 in WAU. They have shown a lot of interest and enthusiasm in learning all about this war. The children investigated if any of their relatives actually took part in the war and we found out that there were quite a lot. Children brought in photos, letters, identity cards, rationing books and medals to show their class. We all found it absolutely fascinating and great discussions were had. Yesterday, Primary 4 went to the Palace Stables to take part in their WW2 programme.
They met an air raid warden and Daithí got to assist him. The children actually got to experience how it might have felt hearing the air raid siren and evacuating to an underground shelter. They also met an American soldier and got to make their own name tag and identity card. Alan was delighted at how much they knew about the war and how enthusiastic they were to answer questions. A great time was had by all. Myself and Mrs Rock were very proud of them.
