P5 visit the Shambles Market in Armagh.

25th Apr 2017

P5 went to the Shambles Market where they took part in a Field to fork activity session. This was an excellent activity where the children learnt how to make smoothies using a huge variety of fruit, yoghurts and juices. They also examined a Wormery where worms are used to convert fruit and vegetable waste to worm tea which is then used as a fertilizer (no chemicals and so very environmentally friendly). Finally the children made paper pots which they filled with compost and in which they planted either cress, carrot or thyme. Before we departed we were given Goody Bags (brown paper recyclable of course) which contained notepads, pencils and a wooden spoon. Many thanks to Armagh City, Banbridge & Craigavon Borough Council who organised this free activity.
