May Altar - Ideas from Fr Greg

4th May 2020
We like to keep a Catholic home altar and update is year round with the liturgical year. You can find all ideas how to honour Mary with children in May. Here, and today we are going to talk about how to make a May altar for Mary.    Start by laying down some blue fabric because blue is Mary’s colour. Then add a floral display and a statue of Mary. Then add candles and rosary beads.   Honouring Mary is a big part of the Catholic faith, and traditionally you will find Mary's statue in Catholic homes, churches, schools, etc. They can be inside or outside, they can be part of a Mary garden, they can be beside the altar- anywhere really! Whether or not you have  a statue yourself, now your kids can have their very own, and all you need is a print.   In conclusion, here are some ideas for May altars:
  • Mary Statue
  • Blue Stuff
  • Flowers
  • Mary holy cards
  • Mary books
  • Rosaries
  • Candles
  • Mary crafts your kids have made
  • Drawings or artwork of Our Lady
  • Crosses
After setting up may altar in your home, we pray to Mary to help us. Perhaps we could learn The Mysteries of Light which are said on Thursday. They are, Jesus' Baptism, The Wedding at Cana, The Transfiguration, The Preaching of the Gospel and the Eucharist. Please remember to keep praying. Thanks to all P4 children for the lovely pictures and prayers which were presented for Mass on Saturday. God Bless Fr Greg
