Lila Smyth - Our Friend

17th Dec 2012
Lila Smyth - Our Friend

We came together as a community to celebrate the recent retirement of Mrs. Lila Smyth when we held a Mass on 22nd October. Many friends, colleagues, past and present as well as parents and pupils attended what was a very special day. Lila worked in St. Mary’s for 24 years and throughout that time was a valued and dedicated member of staff. She will be missed by all involved with the school.

It was a tribute to the esteem in which Lila was held that many parents made donations. The total collected was £195. £115 of this money was used to purchase a specially engraved vase and was presented to Lila at the Mass by Mrs. Julie Lennon (parent), Annie Smyth and Padraig Doyle (pupils) on behalf of all the parents and pupils. Thank you for this. The remainder of the donations were forwarded to Lila.

The school would like to thank all those who were involved in the celebratory Mass especially Father Kerr on the lovely ceremony and to Mr. Furphy from St. Patrick’s High School, Keady who made it possible for all last years Primary 7 pupils to attend.

We wish Lila a very happy and fulfilling retirement and hope that she comes to visit us in Granemore soon.
