Fun Friday’s at St Mary’s

1st May 2026

Friday’s really are fun at our school.
In Primary 3, when spellings are out of the way, it’s onto ‘fixing up’ work that we have completed, some Nrich maths, PE and Golden Time.
Today’s Nrich Problem was about length.
First the children had to identify things that were the same and different about two train tracks made using cuisenaire rods.  Then they were tasked to make their own 20cm tracks.

When the task was over, Paddy asked if he could continue during Golden Time and Rose said that “this should be set up as a play activity.  It’s more like play than Maths”.  Check out some of the tracks made and some reasoning from Lorcan.  It is so great to see children so engaged with their learning.

PS - check out the short clip of lunchtime in our playground and tell me Friday’s are not fun in our school.
